The latest from Team Hughey

All is well and Andrew is home safely. He's been trying to readjust to life Stateside and is now in the process of job hunting. Our boxes of "stuff" from Oxford (mostly books) arrived within two days of my husband, much to our surprise. So things are getting settled back down now.

As for me, I start a part-time job today at Huntington Learning Center and am still preparing to return to Brandon High next year. I'm excited because I'll be getting back to teaching English - sophomores, to be exact - and it'll be a lot of fun. My classes look like they'll be very challenging, but engaging and fun. I find that combination maximizes student involvement and achievement for me.

MrsHughey.com is soon up for a major redeux, too. I have made some notes and have a meeting with my web designer (Mr. Hughey) today. I'll have to change the site pretty significantly when I return to the classroom, and at that point it will become primarily a resource for my students. However, two forms of "blog" are still possible on this site. One thing I'm probably going to do goes along with blogging and also with teaching. Every day I'll start my English classes with a journal topic for them to write about. I plan to include a page on my site where I respond to the prompt and give students and visitors a chance to respond to my entry or to the prompt itself. Additionally, I may continue to write journal entries on my site. However, due to the nature of the site and my position as a public school teacher, they would probably be less frequent and more dull.

I may also set up an "anonymous" blog elsewhere on the net where I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely. So, if you are a regular "lurker" and interested in having me email you if and when that happens (so you know where to go to find me), so I can let you know.

Hooray for the newly reunited Team Hughey! I'm really happy that you guys are together in Tampa again.

Hey, I had a dream this week about the thing Andrew told Dan and me about at Nosebag... except this time it had happened to me and I had no idea what to do with it, once I had it.
