May Day

I like May Day. Not as much as Easter or anything, but I've always acknowledged May Day. Most people in America don't even know it's a holiday, but I like it. I like anything that celebrates Spring. When we were little, my sister and I lived in a very small town in Missouri. Every May Day, we'd go around the neighborhood picking flowers (mostly dandelions, I'm sure), then bunch them up. We'd take the bunches to houses in the neighborhood (mostly older ladies), put them on the doorstep, ring the doorbell, and run. It was really fun!

Happy May Day to my Schmoopie, who got up early this morning to attend May Day festivities in Oxford. It's rather famous for it's concerts, dancing and other street festivities. I'm sorry I had to miss it.

Good news on the job front. This week I registered with a staffing agency. They are very optimistic they'll be able to place me in something next week. It'll probably be a series of temp jobs until I return to teaching, but it pays the bills. Seems like a good place and the pay will be what I'm seeking, so I'm very relieved. Additionally, the directors from Brandon Youth Theatre contacted me about assistant directing their show again this summer. I really enjoyed doing so last summer and learned a great deal.

Tonight my friend Andrew (the other one) comes into town. He'll be meeting me at the pottery place where friends Lesley, Laura and Debbie will be with me working on our pieces we started last week.

I'd better go get ready for pottery painting. Happy May Day, everyone!

Sorry for the late reply ... I was out of town for a few days and had to catch up on the entries.

I totally remember doing that for May Day! It WAS fun! What dorks we were... where the heck did we get that tradition? I'm pretty sure we just made it up. It would have been nice if it had caught on.

I can tell you that it was definitely dandelions and flowers from the golf course. No WAY would we have picked anything from the neighbors' flower beds (I tried it once at got in BIG trouble)!
