A three hour tour . . .

I wrote this entry on the plane on my way to the United States. Obviously, this was before I had any idea I wouldn't be returning to England with Andrew. Anyway, I thought you might be interested:

I am writing this entry from my relatively comfortable seat on Virgin Atlantic Flight 15. Right now the little screen on the seat back in front of me tells me we're somewhere near Corner Brook, which appears to be in north east Canada. The outside temperature is -58 F and we expect to arrive in Orlando in about 4 hours.

If you're ever flying overseas, I have to recommend Virgin. I've always heard it's the best, and it's all I've ever flown. Their amenities are top-notch and their service is excellent. Plus they've got a definite "cool factor" lacking in British Airways, et. al.

So far this flight I've listened to the safety briefing (I always do - and I always count the rows to the two nearest exits), had a meal (it was just so-so, but in general if you order a special meal, which we do as vegetarians, the food is above-par for airline food), watched a movie (Moonlight Mile or something like that with Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon. I saw a preview months ago and thought it looked really good. Eh. I wasn't terribly impressed.), taken a nap, and played a bit of Sims.

The plane is quite full, which is somewhat unusual for us. there are, of course, tons of English children on their way to meet my old friend Mickey Mouse. When we've flown to the UK and from the UK we've almost always been in the minority as Americans. Most people on these routes are English families on Disney holidays. Sometimes I like to strike up a conversation with the kids around me and, if they are interested, suggest things they might like to do at WDW, or answer any questions they might have about it.

Once we touch down in Florida and do all those welcome-back security things, we'll be greeted by Andrew's friend and my enemy, Evan. We'll be heading over to Downtown Disney for a meal at a real-live American restaurant. Then we'll head to Clearwater and meet up with family and friends. It promises to be a big couple of weeks as we catch up with friends, family, cats, eating establishments and sunshine.
