Today is one of those days when I have umpteen different ideas for an entry and can't decide which is best. There are worse situations for a writer to be in.
The dining hall is back up and running, so Andrew and I resumed our post-work lunch routine today. It was, as always, underwhelming. After that, I went home and changed and picked up my computer (which is now transported in my fantastic case made just for it! It was a Christmas present from my grandparents.).
I decided to walk back to campus because it's the most lovely day out today! It's been below 10 degrees (C) for weeks and was warmer yesterday but still cloudy. Even this morning it was very chilly and windy, but this afternoon, lovely! About 13 degrees (C) and just a light wind and the sky was nice and blue. I had a really lovely walk in Binder Clip Land and arrived at the Hertford library ready to write.
I had so many emails and comments (which I like!) that I haven't worked on my novel still! I was busy mucking about online.
I do want to comment about something (one of the "entry ideas"). Sometimes the comments and emails I receive from the site make me wonder if readers think I don't like Oxford. I just want to clarify, if that's the idea some people get, that I like Oxford very much. Of course, it's very different from home, so I tend to point out the big and small differences I see. They are so interesting and sometimes surprising, after all. But, overall, I think it's a really lovely place to be. In general, the people are kind, the arts and culture are incredible, it's a terrific place to take a long stroll, and the weather - well, the weather sucks, but other than that, you know, good.
In other news, we are ALMOST caught up on Buffy! We got ahold of (thanks to a friend) a copy of last week's episode, "Showtime" and watched it last night after dinner. Bravo, as usual, Mr. Whedon! So that means we're now only a few days behind, since the latest epi aired last night. Not bad considering they're a whole SEASON behind here - or at least several months if you're on SKY TV. Still, though, don't email me details about last night's episode.
And one other thought before I sign off for today. I've been going back through Stephen King's _On Writing_ for inspiration purposes (that's a WHOLE other entry, at least!) and highlighting things. So far about half of what I have re-read is highlighted. But today two interesting things struck me: One, he uses a PowerBook! A Mac like me! YAY! And, two, the final appendix to his book is a list of novels he recommends and had recently read when he wrote the book. I thought, considering my previous request for book suggestions, that it was pretty cool! The other thing about his list is that I have recently read several books on the list! Wow. Cool.
The end.
Posted by Erin at January 15, 2003 05:43 PMGuess what? You ARE caught up with Buffy! There was no new episode this week. The next new one won't be until next week.
