A morning entry

It's early here - about 7:45. I usually go to the MCR with Andrew every morning before heading to work (across the street) at 7:55. Today Andrew stayed at home because he did not sleep much last night (neither did I - but every time I woke up Andrew was already awake).

Anyway, since he's not here to keep me company I thought I'd make a real quick entry.

The weather is slightly warmer now than it was at the start of the week. We actually had snow flurries around Tuesday. It was VERY cold (just below freezing and WINDY) and raw until about Wednesday when it began to slowly creep into slightly less freezing temperatures. Today I still have on a thermal undershirt, but didn't need to button my coat or wear my scarf.

We've just finished our Christmas shopping for our loved ones in the US. Unfortunately, it's probably too late to get it there on time. Sorry, guys. We'll get it to you as soon as we can. We had to shop carefully and buy things that were light weight and, of course, within our budget. I think we did pretty well.

As you might expect, Oxford is much emptier than it was a week or two ago. Most students go home for Christmas, so that makes the library and the streets quieter. One thing they do over this break, though, is to have A-level (high school) students come stay in college and interview for a spot at Oxford. So this week in the dining hall there have been a lot of 17 year olds. They stay for about a week and get to live in a "real" college room, experience some of the Oxford flavor, and be stressed out by intimidating interviews. The other day two of the girls asked Andrew, Marcy (another American grad student) and I if we had flown over to interview. LOL. I guess they thought we were about 18 years old.

Not much else comes to mind at the moment to post. Hope all is well with my loyal and beloved readers. I'm off to protect the books. :-)
